What does one write about for their first post for Unsorry Magazine? This is the question that I have been mulling over for the past few weeks since I heard the news that I would be the new Food and Drink Columnist for this awesome website. Over and over I mulled until it became really quite obvious that booze was the best start. Because, as they say, start as you mean to go on! So with this little cocktail recipe I would like to raise my martini glass to the awesome folk for Unsorry Magazine and say cheers! Let’s have a good’un, yes?
This Chai Martini, or as I like to call it, Chai-tini was inspired by the batch of Chai Concentrate I made a few months ago. I have been conjuring up new and fancy ways to use my homemade syrup and what better way than to add some booze. The contrast between the warming spices in the Chai Concentrate with the cold of the ice cubes makes an interesting beverage. This cocktail would be perfect for a night-in snuggled up under a duvet watching some silly telly. Or maybe serve it as dessert at a dinner party. Cocktails should be dessert more often.
Ingredients (serves 1)
- 25ml Vodka
- 25ml Amaretto
- 25ml Chai Concentrate (make your own or buy online)
- 50ml Milk (semi-skimmed or full fat)
- 3 Ice Cubes
- tiny sprinkle of Ground Cinnamon
- Grab a cocktail shaker and fill with the first 5 ingredients. Give it all a good shake, 30 seconds or so should do it.
- Pour into a chilled martini glass and sprinkle with a tiny bit of ground cinnamon.
Top tips: For extra decadence grate some good-quality chocolate over the cocktail before serving. And for even more decadence switch the milk for cream. Dreamy!
